Dain Ironfist
Name: Dain Ironfist Age: 87 Height: 4'8" Class: Paladin (Vengeance) Race: Mountain Dwarf
I first met Dain about a year ago on my first protection job. He is a great paladin and I enjoy fighting alongside him. He would talk about how much he owed to the priest that took him in when (like myself) he was an orphan as a child and he believed that he could never do enough to repay the priest. He has an unwavering belief in right and wrong and that his deity will be the one to direct his work.
However he does seem to like his ale and most nights when in a place with any sort of drinking establishment he can be found with his tankard in hand and the liquid refreshment going down quickly, a little too quickly for my liking.
I did find out that he was orphaned at a young age and he was discovered in a workhouse in his late teens by a dwarven priest name Harbek Ungart. Harbek noticed an affinity with the divine in Dain and invited him to return to the cathedral and train in the priesthood. Dain was keen to leave the workhouse so agreed. However Dain didn’t appear to be that studious so moved onto begin training as a Paladin.
Many years past and Dain has become a Paladin and returned to meet with Harbek who was now old and frail. That night whilst everyone was sleeping a band of Orcs attacked the church and began slaughtering the priests. Dain awoke and realised what was happening and grabbed his Warhammer and Shield and entered the fray. He was the only warrior there to stand against the orc horde but fought bravely with divine purpose like never before. When many orcs lay dead their leader, a large one-eyed orc with a malicious stare signalled to retreat. Once the orcs had left Dain went to find Harbek and soon found him in the library where he had gone to protect the histories. He sprawled on the floor, covered in blood, next to a large tome, his breathing ragged. Dain started to prepare a healing spell when Harbeck told him it was too late for that. He then uttered his last words “I’m so proud of you son” and went limp. When Dain was retelling the story there were still tears in his eyes at those words. From that day Dain swore and Oath of Vengeance against those Orcs.
